WEGA SSNC Parent Enrollment Letter

The health and safety of students and staff is of great concern to the school district. Weldon City Schools is invested in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in our community. The School Health plan with safety measures has proven helpful, but we want to do more. Therefore, WCS is offering students and staff the opportunity to get weekly, hassle-free testing while at school through the WCS K-12 COVID Testing program.

National Bullying Prevention Month

Every October, schools, and organizations across the country join in observing National Bullying Prevention Month. Weldon Elementary Global Academy (WEGA) promotes a safe and secure learning environment in which students are able to learn, grow, and develop. The goal is to work together to prevent bullying and cyberbullying by bringing awareness to the occurrence and effects of bullying on children of all ages. WEGA will be including anti-bullying guidance lessons and activities at school throughout the month beginning on October 4, 2021.

National Hispanic American Month

Hispanic Heritage Month takes place September 15 to October 15 every year as a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the American Latino community. Beginning in 1968, Hispanic Heritage Month was originally observed as “Hispanic Heritage Week” under President Lyndon Johnson, but it was later extended to a month during President Ronald Reagan’s term in 1988.

Early Release/Teacher Workday

All staff members will participate in a school-based training this afternoon and with an option of working on Friday. The district will resume normal operations on Monday, October 18, 2021.
